FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
When will I receive my images?
It takes approximately 2-3 weeks for me to edit the images from your session depending on if it's a busy season (fall is the busiest!). Once complete, you receive a link to a private gallery where you can download your high resolution images.
How far in advance should I book my session?
I always say to book as soon as you have a date or time of year in mind. The type of session you're looking to do also matters. Fall is extremely busy for me, so make sure to book during the summer for a fall session. Maternity sessions are best done when the Mom is between 32-35 weeks pregnant.
Do I own the copyright to my images?
In Canada, the copyright always belongs to the photographer. Part of our agreement includes a print release, which grants you permission to print and share your photographs for personal use.
What should we wear to our Family Portrait Session?
I'm glad you ask. I have created a handy dandy page with some helpful tips on selecting your outfits. Just click on the purple link: What to Wear
You can also do a simple google search for "what to wear photo shoot" and you'll see tons of suggestions.
Do you have some preferred locations for Family Portraits?
Once you book a session with me I will send you a link with examples of locations I've used in the past and we can discuss what kind of a look you're wanting for your photos. The first decision you have to make is what kind of "feel" you're going for...a park, a downtown setting, a garden, or a field. I will work with you to find the perfect spot!
What time of day is best for our outdoor session?
A few hours before the sun goes down is considered the best time for portrait photography. This time is referred to as "The Golden Hour", when the light is warm, soft and flattering. The early mornings can also provide a similar lighting but that means sometimes meeting me as early at 7am. Depending on the time of year the ideal time changes. During the spring and summer we might meet as late as 7:30 pm. In the fall, evenings are often booked around 4:30-6 pm. I do not book mid day photos as the sun is too high and creates unflattering shadows, however on overcast days we can be a little more flexible and sometimes we may need to adjust our time so we can maximize the light we have available.
What if it rains?
We reschedule. I keep a close eye on the weather and am usually in touch with you in the days leading up so we can finalize your session time based on Mother Nature and put a back up plan in place if necessary.
